Its all about the people
Russell and Frances Miller have reigned gloriously over the Tudor since 1983. During this time the genial owners have immersed themselves in a labour of love to create a unique establishment where people of all backgrounds, fashion sense(!) musical taste and eccentricities(!!) can feel comfortable in an environment where they can truly express themselves.

Situated on New Market street (opposite the college) the location offers a respite from the marauding hordes of King St whilst still being central and accessible.

Converted from a former nunnery, the Tudor boasts an eclectic d飯r with a blend of the original furbishings and a dash of the 21st century. Arranged almost ad hoc in the two rooms this conjours a warm, cosy sort of ambience akin to having tea with Tony Meo then having him put eighties match box b-line disaster on the jukebox. Talking of which is an impressive internet linked affair where you can choose pretty much any track you can think of, (cue plenty of banter amongst the mixed client鬩.

The venue has been an integral part of the live music scene since the Millers took ownership and is sizeable enough to feature a stage, PA system and a dancefloor (which is always packed on events nights) plus two beer gardens and two TV screens! Yet it?s small enough to retain that cosy intimacy pubs strive for yet seldolm attain. Amongst the geniune stars that have graced the stage over the years include punk legend TV SMITH, Timperley's very own FRANK SIDEBOTTOM and visiting american beat merchants THE PHANTOM SURFERS.

The Tudor is where Wigans? bohemia mingle with traditional ale house drinkers, and this quaint little home from home is not just about being the foremost alternative venue in Wigan; guest ales are frequently promoted, Sky sports is featured on the screens and the menu is varied enough to cater for the multicultural acedemia from the aforementioned college.
